Bands that are worth to be mentioned at the end of 2013

CortisoL - 2013 - The Feminist + Fleischkraft

Truly sick sludge from the Canadian border.

Lovely art-wok, Charming vocal parts, thrashy sounds, What else do you need ?

"the magnificent new CortisoL CD release in a wonderful gatefold eco-wallet. This CD contains the band's latest recording: the larger than death mini album The Feminist; plus the shamefully unreleased 2007 classic album Fleischkraft - for a total of 21 hits of the best sludgethrashpunkmetaldoom manufacture since the Mayan failure."

FLESHPRESS - 2013 - Tearing Skyholes

A sudden surprise at the end of the year.

It's always a pleasure to find a new release on Kult of Nihilow Recs.

Slow, long, atmospheric songs. From minimalistic ambient to solid sludge monolith.

This essay slays. It's hard to take in one listening. It requires more and more rounds to go deeper inside the concept.

This is CD/LP release. And you can dl it for free on bandcamp.

Robustfest vol.III (Review)

LADIES & GENTLEMEN

Finally. We've made it for the 3rd time !

One week passed after the fest.

And It's time to take a deep breath and make a review.
Robustfest is rising slowly from year to year.
Around 400 people came for Robustfest (including crew/guests and band members).

All the bands came to the festival and burned the stage.
Thank you guys doing these thousands of km.

(There were tons of difficulties during the road to the fest :

The Machine & Loinen flights were delayed for 4-6 hours.

The Grand Astoria had some problems with the tour bus and they decided to come by train for Ukrainian tour.)

We've started and ended right in time. (That was really necessary for the Old Opera crew).

Thanx Jura & BOMG, Marco / Shiva the Destructor / Checkpoint base for help with Backline !

Val Stonezilla & Lepa for the main stage Sound & Lights!

Zvukotzech studio for recording the sound !

The backyard was working as a food court with herbal tea/candies and vegan falafels.

Thanks our volunteers for preparing the place.

(Sanya, Artem, Lera and the whole Robust Crew - you rock fellas !!!)

The Robust Afterparty also happened in a "Secret Cave" right after the main Fest.

Thanks you guys from BOMG, Turnaround and Dropsum. You've made that night !
Big thanks goes to Jura & BOMG for help with the afterparty & Jam with DropSum !

Three tours have crossed on the ROBUSTFEST :

Belzebong & Satellite Beaver burned the bong the day after in Ternopil.

The Brimstone Days continued their 7-weeks-long Euro tour. (Thanks to Slavik Glory for helping with Ukrainian part of this Tour)

The Grand Astoria followed their road to the south and have played in Odessa for next day.

It was also a pleasure to see fresh releases from Loinen, The Brimsone Days and The Grand Astoria on the merch balcony. They were made in time. Right for the Robustfest.

And we sure that different collaborations between the festival's bands will see the light of the day in the nearest future.

Please welcome short Robustfest's overview :

TURNAROUND

Poster by xNinja (Kiev, UA)

Turnaround is a Heavy Blues-Rock/Progressive Rock trio from Kiev, UA

At the head of the Kyiv trio, performing heavy blues-rock with a strong influence of early British progressive, is the irrepressible Max Tovstyj, a permanent member of many bands (Crawls) whose material recorded live at his studio, Broken Bricks. Being a native tradition of the "golden" age hippies, Turnaround reflect the musical eclecticism that glorious time: next to the typical blues standard may attend a 10-minute art-rock suite, and tricked arrangements compensated rock and roll feeling. After the release of their debut album and EP Turnaround is now ready to begin recording their second full-length, promising to go deep into the progressive jungle.

DROP SUM

Poster by Mila "Hopeless" (Moscow, RU)

Drop Sum is Taras Yakobchuk (Kiev, Ukraine). Yes, that’s right – from air. Microphone noise, room air static and manipulations with its properties led to the creation of a tiny program, that extracts harmonics from ambience noise. Furthermore, these harmonics are used to build the chords in pure intonation. Skipping technical details, let’s just say that the process of creating such music is generally identical to the listening process. John Cage clearly demonstrated that any noise can be music if it has a listener. Therefore, music is just a matter of a starting point in your system of values.

If you’re looking for the right place to play this music, it is likely that it will be the majestic dome of a giant telescope, or the pavilion of the mission control center on a space station from the future. Distinctly futuristic landscape, with smooth architectural forms in bright colors. Idyllic picture of a bright future, with no place for imperfection.

Just one more announcement before we uncover the name of our final participant. His look is dreadful, but his heart is kind – please welcome Mr. Somali, the honorable president of west-Ukrainian yacht club, who owns the secrets of deadly knives and sharp edges of all kinds. How many times have you tried to impress your friends with knife tricks? How many times have you failed at it? Each time you’ve tried? If yes, then Mr. Somali is someone who you should see, if not then you have even more reasons to see the Incredible Dwarf because what he will show you will make your adrenaline spill out of your body. But you don’t have to worry, he has never harmed anyone because he loves every living being and sees no difference between them.

Those of you, who have seen the Incredible Dwarf together with the mighty hobos from the Red Fang troupe this June, will be especially surprised because Mr. Somali prepared a specially program for our Robust Show –even sharper and more precise than before.

Robustfest vol.III - 3rd announce

Ladies & Gentlemen,

Please Welcome another two heroes on Robust Arena !

THE BRIMSTONE DAYS

(Sweden)

Attention everyone! We’re close to announcing our drawing cards! But first, let’s look at those young artists, who have a lot of aces under their sleeves too. Please welcome one more beautiful lady on the robust stage – Mrs. Brimstone from Scandinavia!

Her cheerfulness and open heart gives her the ability to speak with animals, but her real passion is birds. But don’t think about blood-chilling masterpiece of Mr. Hitchcock, it has nothing to do with our beautiful Mrs.Brimstone. Her love to birds is her single motivator, and she has almost reached perfection at it. Be sure to see her charming performance on the 12th of October at the third installation of Robustfest.

His exclusive performance for Robustfest, will make ladies faint and gentlemen boggle. As for children - if you want to bring them with you, you’d better change your mind because it’s not something that young eyes can stand.
