WEEDEATER @ Robust Gig in Kiev

Robustfellow & Otryv-Pertsa
presents with pleasure:

Gig!

За четыре года с момента выхода предыдущей плиты "Jason... The Dragon"
Hornet, ex-Sourvein), Shep & Owen (ex- Zoroaster, ex-Whores, ex-Artimus Pyledriver) посетит Киев,
является выход свежего опуса с названием "Goliathan"
на культовом французском Season of Mist, так что всем год лак и гуд спид!

Для непосвященных рекомендуем подготовиться по теоретической части:

Planet of Zeus (Interview)

01) 3,2,1… Houston, we’re going into orbit.....pshshhhhhhhh…. Hi, guys, how’re you doing? Do you like to watch clear sky with stars while drinking some local brewed alcohol?)

We are doing great! Our Greek Spring tour for our new album “Vigilante” just kicked off. There are still some gigs in Greece and some summer festivals in Europe, before our third European tour, which will start late August.
Watching the clear sky and drinking some local brewed alcohol, either separately or combined, are some of our main activities in our everyday lives.

02) Zeus was chosen by you from all of other Greek gods because of his mighty beard?)

The beard was actually the last of the criteria. Being the God of Gods and the biggest planet on the universe stroke us most.

03) We would like to know the name of the artist that created your album cover. It’s simply a masterpiece! Who is this person, come on, tell us!)

Aris Panagopoulos ( A.D. Visions) is the man behind the cover and the whole artwork of “Vigilante”. Aris has designed some of our latest posters and T-shirts, which were awesome, and so we decided that he should be the one who will take care of our new cover.

04) As far as I know, you planned the tour this summer. Was there any thoughts about visiting Kiev? I hope you are not afraid of what's on TV now?
Our European tour kicks off from Sofia, Bulgaria on the 28th of August. The routing was already fixed when we had an offer for some shows in Ukraine. We are not afraid of what’s on TV. Rotting Christ went to Ukraine for a few shows when the riots were on, and nothing happened. Hope we can make it pretty soon and visit Ukraine for some gigs.

05) Who's your next victim in your brand new album "Vigilante"?

Traitors, Mistreaters, Abusers.

06) What about Bach, Mozart, Lady Gaga, or you only listen to brutal & smoke music?)

There is an open-mind mentality in each member of the band as far as music is concerned. Bach, Mozart or Paganini sound as majestic as Emperor, while Lady Gaga sounds like having a good time.

07) Do you like to read brand-new fanzine, smell the scent of paper and all that stuff? Tell us about if there’re fanzines in Greece.

15 years ago, there was actually a fanzine-frenzy going on. You could find and read fanzines about any kind of underground music.
15 years later, we smell the scent of our pc screens!

08) I definitely can say that you ain't some foolish people. Do you like to read books? What's your favorites?)

Anything in between Jenna Jameson’s “How to make love like a porn star: A cautionary Tale” to Dalton Trumbo’s “Johnny got his gun”. The list is endless.

09) How do your neighbors react when you turn on sludege/stoner at full volume?)

They usually knock on our door and invite themselves in!!!

10) Here's a blitz poll:

Favorite musician? Tough Question
Favorite beer?Any beer is good beer. Beer is good for you.
Favorite crust album?Haven’t heard many albums of this genre, but Sarabante’s “Remnants” sounds great.
Favorite type of cabbage? The psychedelic purple one.

11) Continue the phrase: a horse comes into the bar...

…And gets really attracted by a goat’s boobs.

12) Band’s cool, but what about your hobbies, guys? Maybe there’s somebody collecting beer cans in your band by any chance?)

Some of our hobbies are a bit hard to mention and may cause legal problems!

13) Do you believe that we’re not from this planet and all that stuff?

We are human beings and we belong to Planet Earth.

14) How often you have hangovers after another gig?)

Never. We are immune to alcohol.

15) Imagine that you appeared in deep jungle, and on your way out of there you meet tribe of cannibals. Your actions, monsieur?)

Keep calm and try to communicate using any Chris Barnes’ grawls/lyrics

16) PSHHHHH…. Houston, we’re landing, pshhhhh…. Thank you so much for this interview, any last words?)

Thank you too for the interview and your support!

Dog Moon Howl - 2014 - s/t (Review)

Robustfellow wrote few words about DMH's Demo like 2 years ago in "Sent by the band" section.
And it was a pleasure to hear from Craig that new cake is already on the table.

Dog Moon Howl is a truly robust band. Three mature guys just came together to kick out the riff and fry the throat with the southern-fried choruses.

Each album starts ftom the cover artwork. And this one smells like a kickass. Literally.
I can just assume that inner riot is the main influence for this trio.

Here's some shots for some songs :
"Tenement Porch Dog" - sounds like Sixty Watt Shaman's B-side. Great memorable hell of a hit.
"Punching Walls" - awesome tribute to Lemmy & Co.
"Blues Like a Hammer" - is raw and melodic at the same time.

Here's some info from DMH press release :

Heavy rock band Dog Moon Howl is a Glasgow, Scotland based trio
featuring Bryan Campbell (ex of Dublin's 13conditions) on bass/vocal, Ally
Tennick (ex-Soop) on drums and, on guitar/vocal, Craig Hughes
(alt.blues/roots solo artist - www.craighughes.net). The three had previously
played together in '90s alt.rock band Smotherparty.

Since forming at the tail-end of 2011, Dog Moon Howl has shared a stage
with (amongst others) Morpheus Rising, Suicide State, Headless Kross,
Constant Fear and Low Sonic Drift. Festival appearances have included
Record Store Day in Stirling and Old Town Undersound in Edinburgh. May
2012 saw the release of a demo EP, Strip-Lit Hell. The band has picked up
great reviews from websites and blogs as far afield as Ukraine and the USA,
drawing favourable comparisons with the likes of Blue Cheer, Mark Lanegan
and Clutch.

Dog Moon Howl's self-titled debut album, co-produced with Alec Pollock of
cult NWOBHM band Chasar, is released by Channel Nowhere on Monday
30th June 2014. Consisting of eight original songs, spanning the sub-two
minute Motorhead flavoured speed-rocker Punching Walls to the near nineminute
psych-rock of Your New King, the album heavily hints at the band's
influences, from Hendrix, Black Sabbath, Thin Lizzy, The Groundhogs, UFO
and Deep Purple to Soundgarden and Neil Young & Crazyhorse.

You should also check  Craig Huges' solo projects. They're full of Scotch and smoke.

Hope you'll make a tour to our land one day.

The Spanish Metal Scene: Corrosive And Divine

It’s fair to say when you think about anything thrash/death metal/hardcore/grindcore related, Spain probably isn’t the first country you’d ascribe it to. It seems just too improbable that the country you associate with much more sedate pastimes and pleasures could create the kind of blood curdlingly beautiful noise that anyone reading this blog loves. However, just look a little further into the country and you realise that perception is wrong and indeed Spain is actually a great place to discover new up and coming metal bands that really offer a different take on the genre.
Three of the best to watch out for
There are always a few really decent bands that you come to in your life that leave you wondering “why the hell did I not know about them before?” and this next bunch are no exception. They’ve been put together as a sample of some of the great acts that are coming out of Spain. They’re not all new, but all of them either have new releases to promote or are preparing to get stuff out into the ether later this year.

Wis(h)key

Hailing from Barcelona and relative newcomers to the scene, Wis(h)key were formed in 2011 and their bandcamp site offers a full preview of their next single ‘Voodoo River’ which is to be released on 1st June 2013. They’re a more typical kind of crossover band, that don’t sit easily in just one style of music. They’ve been in and around and gigging in one form or another for around a decade and the band members Ori Novella, Ruben Chacon, Isma Garcia, JA Roman and Marcos Lopez started the project as a bit of fun, but realised after a short while that they’d built up a pretty solid base of songs that would create a damned fine debut album.

They recorded it at Artegrama Studio in Barcelona and the reaction on it’s release, astounded them. Thus, they’ve gone back into the studio and are hoping to record more this year, with ‘Voodoo River’ being pre-released as a taster for something much bigger to come. They also have a pretty awesome YouTube channel too; their music videos are good to watch, classy and very well filmed and edited and seem to capture the heart and soul of metal music, but there’s an innate class and quality to the shooting of them that still wouldn’t look out of place on a mainstream music video channel either. This might end up setting them apart from some of the other bands in their genre if they ever make it really big. They seem to have a feel for how to craft something lovingly and with care. The same goes for their music too. Definitely a band to give a little bit of your time over to get to know and love.

A.D.

Whilst Wis(h)key are more of a crossover band that might perhaps have a potentially wider appeal to a newer audience who want to perhaps have more of a gentler introduction to the genre, A.D. are the complete opposite. Their latest album ‘Marcha Al Abismo’ was released last month to critical acclaim, and it is utterly unrelenting in both it’s ferocity of volume and crunching power. The band has been inexistence for around thirteen years now and this is their second release. It's an uncompromising listen that will leave you wanting to hear more.

Falsos Positivos

Released last month ‘Nuestra Hora’ is the third release from Falsos Positivos, a Valencian punk hardcore act who are making quietly noisy waves in their home country. The band consists of Serrano on vocals, xTonix on guitar and vocals, xMarix on bass and Edu on drums. Their music belies the message they are trying to get across. Their lyrics are probably what you would call provocative, they’re not political in the truest sense but they lean towards trying to paint hardcore and metal fans in a more positive light, rather than the somewhat negative traditional viewpoint that most people have of the genre. They’re definitely another one to watch out for this year and in the future.
If you’d like to find out more about the bands mentioned here, are interested in finding out more about the Spanish Metal scene at the current moment and getting hold of some of the best value music deals around, then check out all of the various group’s Bandcamp pages. The best thing about listening and buying from Bandcamp is that you’re directly supporting the artists themselves and not only that you can find out about all the other great acts from the area into the bargain. Many of the bands on there link directly to other groups that they think their fan base might like, so it's always worth your time clicking through and seeing what else is on offer. There you have it; the Spanish metal scene is definitely one of the ones to watch during 2013 and beyond. You all definitely need to watch this space for more to come.

Catapult the Smoke - 2011 - Born in Fire

For robustfellows only...or not for the weak souls.

Hail Sweden. Here's the 2nd coming of heavy tuned, stoned as hell and sentenced to doom three-headed dragon. Greatest album, that I havn't heard for a long time. This one goes well for the long long riding. Bad roads surrounds you. You should hold motorcycle's handlebars. and keep on going through the night.

Partly reminds me the doomy days of Orange goblin career (Scorpionica/Coup de Grace),
Don't forget to add some southern sandy grooves.

Good work done guys.

THE SAND COLLECTOR - "LORD OF THE SUN"

Great band from Spain. check 'em if you don't already know 'em.

“"Lord of the Sun” is the re-edition of our e.p., with 4 new songs (and a surprise at the end in the original cd´s) 11 songs, nearly an hour of music. We could say that stoner rock is the main influence, but we can also find doom, heavy metal, hardcore, sludge or country.

A crystal production with powerful sound and with compositions full of memorable riffs and solos, bass lines that have nothing to envy Scott Reeder himself, powerful drums and epic choruses.

Strongly recommended for fans of Spiritual Beggars, Clutch, Grand Magus, Down, Black Sabbath, Dozer, Baroness, Alice in Chains Cathedral, The Sword, Alabama Thunderpussy, Red Fang, Pendejo! ..."

Greetings and Thanks!
