Some of you
may have noticed the mysterious project Krobak being mentioned as Igor's
pre-Stoned Jesus major activity, but I guess the percent of those who listened
to it after reading about it is somewhere about absolute zero. But it's a funny
thing to discover that a guy behind StJesus' crushing stoner riffs and ambitious
progressive leanings began as a three-notes-two-chords minimalist citing later
days Talk Talk and Godspeed You! Black Emperor as his main influences. Writing
music in various forms since he was 13 (from grunge ballads to doom-death
epics) Igor discovered post-rock around 2006 and immideately tried his hand on
it, taking inspiration also from early Krautrock as well as from Constellation
and 4AD bands.
Inspired by
constant interest to what could have been Ukraine's prime post-rock band, Igor
decided to reform Krobak with full line-up for occassional live shows. A set of
early material, demoed but never released, gained a new life being recorded in
a proper way at Moscow's Destroy the Humanity Studios (January 2012) and Kiev's
Zvukocech (June-July 2012). 42-minutes long "Deep Waters" album is
set to be released early in autumn, along with the first Krobak live show in
three years at Robustfest II in Kiev.
Krobak
(Хроба́к, укр. «червь») — инструментальный проект, который держится на трех
китах: мелодика, меланхолия, минимализм. Создатель Хробака Игорь
вдохновлялся музыкой пост-роковых коллективов Godspeed You! Black Emperor,
Yndi Halda и Mono. После разочарования в "one man band"-концепте
все силы автора проекта были сосредоточены на развитии Stoned Jesus,
All the bands who have wrote to us during these four month - please don't think we're lazy fellas and it's hard to organize our asses to answer and post. Sorry everybody...we were busy enough preparing the pleasing ground for htis year's ROBUSTFEST issue. And I still learn a new profession how to be a good father ))) So that stuff usually takes more time that you usually expect, eh ??)
The shitty thing is that mine mediafire account is dead for now. It's so pleasent to feel myself as an enemy of music business. But 99% of all uploaded bands were from deep underground and they allowed us to upload their files. So If you need anything from our posts from the past - please write to robustfellowship@gmail.com and we'll write you back with the new link.
Another thing I'd like to mention: because of the lack of time we'll try to do such short reviews as "Sent by the band" at the end of the month. Single posts with review will be made mostly for those bands who will send CD/tape/vinyl/whatever....It's not the harsh rule, but it's how it naturally works for the last time.
Of course if your band is interesting and robust enough - you will have what you deserve !
so here we go: title/image/few words to say about/few useful links...

Founded in the Fall of 2011 by Ben Block and Kirby Lochner, they soon picked up Daniel Salas on the drums and the band has been the same ever since. Satellite Beaver - 2012 - The last bow Promo
Aanother cool band from our lovelu neighbours Poland. Keep your ears opened.
Loud and stoned as fuck.
"Have you ever tried to imagine yourself space, hairy dozer furious enough to destroy planets? No wonder you did not, but now it’s about time to confront one face to face. Formed in Warsaw in 2008, Satellite Beaver search for their own style and they are more stubborn than Sisyphus itself. Inspired by traditional grunge and stoner rock genres, band came a long way through different influences what in practice means searching for thickest guitar strings and biggest crash cymbals ever created. What’s more, they dared to spread their “tune it lower” philosophy during live performances with local and foreign stoner bands such as Belzebong, Luna Negra / Tres Perros, Karma To Burn or Mars Red Sky. Satellite Beaver are preparing brand new material for debut album release, but before that happens, some chapters have to be closed. That’s why “The Last Bow” EP came out (actually is about to come at May 2012). It contains 4 tracks composed in 2010-2011, which gives some point of view at direction the band moves toward: from catchy, rock’n’rollin’ ‘Way before’, through classic stoner ‘Pershing’ and slower ‘Urania’ to gloomy and massive ‘Roadtrip’ track, which is closest to style band’s digging at the moment. 2012 is the year of changes: new line-up, new material, new tour and a lot of determination to trip further that any beaver ever tripped…" http://www.facebook.com/SatelliteBeaver http://satellitebeaver.bandcamp.com/

Burweed (Fin) - 2012 - Eyes Down South
"Burweed is a band from Karhula, Southern Finland. The same area has given birth to numerous metal acts such as Omnium Gatherum, Total Devastation, Domination Black, Demonic Death Judge, Kaihoro and many more. However, musically Burweed dives in the murkier waters introducing atmosphere, violence and ocean-sized melodies to the alternative metal genre. Burweed is a strong addition to the Finnish post metal scene. On
"Eyes Down South" the three-piece has truly found its own, unique voice.

Nomega - 2012 - Deimos
This Romanian band appears on Robustfellow once again with the new stuff.
"We're back, this time with the full, live in the studio, jam album: Two songs will also be featured on a split vinyl by Nasoni Recods." http://nomega.bandcamp.com/
Personally I'm following Bastard of the Skies since their first release. Great to see they're active and still mindblowing after four years. And they ain't gonna stop...
Here's great, powerful split that brings us 5 heavy tunes from Bastards. I can compare them with High on fire a little bit. Each riff goes with maximum concentration and energy spilled. Can't wait to hear the new one. the third one. Catatomic goes more into traditional doom forest. One epic theme that has title "Void" sound really cool and similar to UK's own Cathedral. The last track on the split "I went to you" - is some kind of acoustic ballad.
"We formed in 2006 and released our self titled debut album in 2008 and it's follow up "Ichor! Ichor!" in 2010. We've recently toured the UK with Jucifer and in the past have played with bands such as Harvey Milk, Baroness, Kylesa, Today Is The Day, Conan, Alunah, Undersmile, Black Sun, Lazarus Blackstar and loads more. We've just finished work on our third album, "Tarnation", which will be released through Future Noise Recordings in the Summer." http://bastardoftheskies.bigcartel.com/ http://bastardoftheskies.bandcamp.com http://www.facebook.com/bastardoftheskies
"“Memória de Peixe” are Miguel Nicolau (guitar) and Nuno Oliveira, both from
Caldas da Rainha, Portugal. The band was formed ... morein November 2010. In other words, is called “Fish memory” in
portuguese and it means short or lack of memory. They use “live-looping” to
create songs with short loops (around 8seconds), with multiple parts to develop
and create songs with structure and improvisation moments." http://memoriadepeixept.bandcamp.com/
"Daggers Mid Flight are based in Melbourne, Australia. Improvised, esoteric,
heavy, psychedelic sounds capes and thundering ... moremoments of heaviness juxtaposed against minimal and often tranquil
tones. Features members of Hotel Wrecking City Traders, Spider Goat Canyon &

Eggnogg - 2012 - Louis EP
This is really fucking cool EP.
Strong stoned/funky/southern/sludge jams.
Recommended !
"It has been a year since Eggnogg released their acclaimed second album, Moments In Vacuum, in July of 2011. During this period of apparent dormancy, the band has been hard at work writing and recording new material for a slew of releases in the summer and fall of 2012.
On July 11, 2012, the band will release a new four-track EP entitled Louis. Following the trend set by Nogg EP(2010), which fell between the band’s debut album The Three(2009) and Moments in Vacuum(2011), Louis is a between-albums EP intended to quell fans’ appetites while the band puts the finishing touches on their third full-length album. Louis is named for estranged bassist Louis Davidson, who played with the band back when their name was GonZo, and who co-wrote the Ep’s third track “The Squid,” back in 2006. The new EP reimagines old songs from the GonZo days, recorded fresh with additional parts added. As with the Nogg EP before it, the band takes the creative liberty to deliver straight-up Rock ‘n Roll with a Noggy twist, as well as new, unexpected sounds that fit snuggly into the scheme of Eggnogg’s deeply-seeded sonic progression.
In the aftermath of the Louis EP, Eggnogg will release their third full-length album, entitled You’re All Invited. From the latter half of 2011 to the present, Eggnogg has been toiling over what will surely be their heaviest, fuzziest, and doomiest recording to date. In contrast to the Louis EP, You’re All Invited will stretch the bounds of song structure and track length to offer a listening experience that is a primordial ritual of heavy riffs, feedback, psychedelic textures, lyrical melodies, and spiritual introspection.
Eggnogg will launch a Kickstarter campaign in July to raise funds to finance the pressing of You’re All Invited on vinyl. This will mark Eggnogg’s first vinyl release, and the band is very excited to finally heed the call of the many fans who seek to have the band’s music on vinyl record. Among the rewards for Kickstarter donations will be limited-edition copies of Louis on CD, posters, t-shirts, and exclusive, autographed prints of Justin Karol’s album artwork. Tongue - 2012 - A Night You'll Never Remember Vol 1 : Who
Fired The Workers Of Happiness Factory ? EP
One of the best grunge bands that I've heard for the last time.
Think early Helmet got raped by late Melvins.
