This is ain't Doom band as you can think first after reading the name. The Hari Karaoke Trio of Doom is instrumental freejazz duo from New York. Lots of practice and good music taste that's what you can feel in every note of this fabulous disk. Really cool work just to spend your evening relaxing after hard working day.

The leaders of the oddly named duo, Kansas City-based percussionist D. Hitchcock and New York guitarist Sal Cataldi, first outlined their recombinant genre research on the 1998 cult smash "Escape Velocity" (Bad Egg 001), a jazz-inflected/noise & dub fueled flight for the chill out room featuring star turns by the likes of Eno/Brand X bassman Percy Jones, today also being reissued as a digital-only release. This uncategorizable indie garnered raves from all edges of the cognoscenti universe including The Village Voice (“truly excellent… where Miles meets Midi”), Jazz Times (“an interesting potpourri of styles and spacious ambience”), Alternative Press , Aquarian Weekly (techie gorks, a free-funk direction reminiscent of Last Exit or Sonny Sharrock’s soundtrack to ‘Space Ghost’), CMJ, Fantastic Voyage System (“marvelous head candy, an all-out trip fest”) and Fact Sheet Five (“part jazz, dub, funk, industrial and experimental, way more exciting than 99% of the music being released these days”). The disc earned airplay and chart positions on more than 75 college and community radio stations nationwide. With their way too tardy, years in the making follow-up, "Gealago," HKToD heads upriver for even darker sonic realms, where machines battle to gain control of human emotional content and people struggle for machine-like beauty and precision.
This is no Space Age Retro Lounge get up; this is The Future Now - from rub-a-dub flute-flavored Blaxsploitation funk and frenetic electro-bop improvs to tribal drum sonatas and delicato acoustic guitar madrigalry. It’s all corralled in an uninterrupted cinematic flow, in multi-sonic-grains ranging from high-rez digital Carnuba to purposefully low-fi/hi-life Fostex primitivo. The band’s efforts redefine the notions of "post rock" and the standards for judging and comprehending harmolodic-rhythmic information. Fittingly, the Trio debuted much of “Gealago” amid the International Noise Festival at NYC's The Knitting Factory a few years back before maybe a little too leisurely committing it to the digital coil, even engaging LaMonte Young in a high-flying duel of pitched drone-n-bash.
If you happen to be in Oslo, Blå is a very nice place to visit. Especially on Sundays, when it's flooded with young girls, listening to a local jazz band. I've been to it several times and liked the place, so I was very glad to find out that Kylesa was coming again to Oslo, and exactly to this cozy venue.
I bought the ticket in advance, and that proved to be a right thing to do, because the concert was sold out. No wonder, Kylesa is very popular here in Norway; since I moved here in 2009 they've already visited us 4 times, and I suspect they have had more concerts here before. This was going to be my third live Kylesa experience. The first was good, the second was better, so I was preparing to a very remarkable happening this time.
I came a little late, when Canadians KEN Mode were finishing their show. Now I really regret it, because I really liked their two songs that I heard. They reminded me about Knut, it sounded very similar to that Swiss mixture of sludge and post-hardcore tunes, which is a big plus for me -- I'm a fan of Knut. I wish I came earlier and had seen more. Thanks to Kai Mauseth, who visits and films most of the relevant concerts in Oslo, we can grab a small piece of the Canadians' performance. And the next time I'll definitely jump at the chance to see these guys live again, the full set.
The next band to enter the stage was Circle Takes the Square. Well, I can only say it was definitely not my cup of tea, so I hanged in the back of the hall, far away from the stage, and I can't say that I actually have seen them live :) At least I heard them. And for those who want to see and hear -- here goes the video again.
Actually, hanging in the back of the venue had its advantages. Laura Pleasants from Kylesa was standing just at arm's length from me, having a conversation with somebody who looked very similar to Kvelertak's guitar player, and I think another Kvelertak's guitarist was also hanging around. It was a little surprising to discover that Laura is so miniature and Kvelertak's guys are so big. You can't tell it from seeing them only at stage.
At some point Laura said "Sorry, I have to go now" to her companion and I understood, that the time has come. I moved close to the stage and got ready.
Presently they entered the stage, guitar players (and simultaneously vocalists) to the right and left, the bass player in the center and two drummers in the back. Kylesa was the first (and it seems the only) band with two drummers that I've heard, and it still amazes me, and it is still fascinating to see two drummers' synchronous work at the stage.
I said I was preparing to get the maximum from the concert? Well, I did it! It was not hard with such a band. I really like when the band enjoys the show itself, when the musicians are moving and jumping and not are standing still. And Kylesa is the band that really enjoys playing! No surprise the audience at their concerts is rapidly infested by the energy coming from the stage and begins to move, jump and scream itself. And I was also moving, jumping, screaming aloud the words of the songs from "Static tensions" and "The Spiral Shadow", as well as the people around me. There was even some crowd-surfing -- the thing you don't often see at concerts in Norway.
I wish the concerts like these could last forever, but eventually the band played encore and it was done. I relocated to the exit from the stage by then, and I saw band members passing beside me, exhausted and covered with sweat. Nothing else could testify better for the fact that Kylesa is one of the best live bands I've ever seen.

So there was time to leave for home, but not before I bought "Static tensions" on vinyl. And on my way home I thought, that every Kylesa show that I visit is better than the previous. I don't know how, but they simply become even more and more perfect live. So don't miss them if they come to your town. I'll not miss for sure.

Here they are. The last hope of UK's sludge underground, heavier than never, re-incarnation of Iron Monkey, Iro-Sludge. Yesss...Sweeet Amps' noises...After releasing the 1st fullength "Filth Pure Filth" on legendary Psychedoomelic label these guys didn't stop for a minute. And here's the second album named with the taste and simplicity - "Four Tired Undertakers". Don't get ironically the title of the record because these four heavyweights will make wizard whisper slow spells of rock'n'roll. Recommended to everyone who's into dust.

First of all I want to say that being a totally underground band Stasis sounds really original and interesting.
This cave is worth diggin'. These Mammoths came from Maine, Portland, US. The band was formed in 2004. They have rleased 3 demos and 3 EPs named by the colour (Red, White and Blue). They've also appeared on the compilation "The Stranglers Chapter 1" on the Canadian's finest Choking Hazard Label.

The album starts with two soft psychedellic tracks. This just preparing you for a long sludge journey.
Then you jump into hellfire of good-laden sludge/doom with some cool/non-ordinary experimental parts.
It's so hard-to-find all the music, composition and heavy jazz jams. So the better recommendation for you - to listen to this masterpiece at least twice.
If you're into brain feeding frequences - Stasis is the best recipe for it.
Don't forget to catch the limited re-edition of Stasis' 2nd demo "We are falling Upwards" on Dethroned records (darker division of throne Recs.)

A couple of friends started the collective because we were bored of terrestrial drugs and playing standard music and we needed a new psychic energy. We harnessed all the psychic energy we could find and killed what we new of standard music. We Killed the idea of traditional song structure.... We Killed traditional band makeup... and we Killed any business that has to do with our music... that is where the name Kill Kill Kill came from. The band comes from UK and gives a listener classic stoner/doom feeling. Iron Hearse sounds just like the good Doom band should sound. Yep. The same non-irritating sabbathian grooves, Obsessed influenced riffs and Lemmy-like vokills. The package is LP + pro done CD that also includes a song "Rocketbuilder" off the 7" with Leather Nun. So if you suddenly missed their European Tour in 2010 you neeeeed to get this for sure.

So this is an allstar sludge/doom/noise/whateverthatisawesome band.
There're five wizards in the band: Bing, Stearns, Kling, Branca and Duncan. They're living in Ohio, US. Needless to say that guys are making great heavy tunes for a long time. They have played in such bands : Rue, Sollubi, Ancient Sickness, Pennsylvania Connection, Fistula, Necrodamus, Sons of Jar El, Railsplitter...and the list goes on and on
