Early Mammal - 2013 - Horror at Pleasure
Highly recommended psychedelic/space/acid rawk from the smog albion !
" Early Mammal started on February 1st 2012 in an old butter factory in Camberwell, South London, now better known as Dropout Studios. Formed by Rob Herian (ex-Elks) on guitar and vocals, Ben Davis (ex-85 Bears) on drums, and with the prog-stylings of Turkish born Deniz Belendir on organ and synth, the band spent hours jamming heavy blues, space-rock and psyche with the likes of Captain Beefheart, High Rise, Peter Green, White Hills, Edgar Broughton Band and Hawkwind on the brain. In autumn 2012 the band finally turned it all into their first album with the recording of Horror at Pleasure.
Early Mammal is not your average blues, stoner or psyche band…or whatever you want to call it. The influence goes much deeper. It's fuzzed-out and it’s heavy, but there's also something else, something wrong with the story. That's what you’ve created in Early Mammal so that's what you get.
All our stories are fucked. Early Mammal is coming and it’s telling you something."
I just leave this video once again here
Out on April 1st.
Brujasdel Sol – 2013 - Moonliner
Brujas del Sol is a psychedelic quartet that focuses their attention toward fuzzed out, loud, swirly, droney compositions.
" Old bandmates Adrian Zambrano (guitar, vocals) and Derrick White (bass) formed Brujas del Sol with drummer Jason Green in the fall of 2011. Instead of pre-writing songs, the band took a more organic approach; recording every improvised jam session. After a few months, hours of musical ideas were captured. Listening back, the band picked a couple of favourites which became their first songs. A variety of musical ingredients began to melt into a sound of their own; hypnotic krautrock, fuzz-laden blues grooves, swirling surf-rock, ambient drones all found their ways into songs.
During the spring of 2012 the band hit Electraplay Studios which yielded two EPs-Moonliner volumes 1 & 2. As the writing process became more demanding, the band wanted to add a keyboardist. Ryan Stivers joined that summer and the band went forth composing music for the last installation in their Moonliner trilogy. "

Now, Voyager - 2013 - Seas
"Now, Voyager (alternative/math-metal/rock) was born from the concept of journey, seeking to understand and explore the world that surrounds its existence. Forever evolving and adapting, submerging itself into the depths of music, to explore and transcend the boundaries between genres. All this to capture the alchemy faced through-out this journey, until it becomes an organic creature in its own right; free to exist though never certain, but always forging forth onto unknown ground."
For fans of Dillinger Escape Plan, Every Time I Die, Norma Jean, Will Haven...
"The tone is set, the motto, definitive. Because if you want a thing done well, do it yourself : french power-rock act ALT considers that if their music has to be labeled, better do it with a category they would create themselves. Damaged Rock then, somewhere between high-energy rock, indie alternative from the 90's and catchy stoner-pop.
Damaged as the reflection in a broken mirror from those past and present styles, periods and places that ALT claims as its essence... turning it into a nervous and finely wrought muscular fundamental element…
After two debut EPs released on 2012, the ALT power-trio born in 2011 works fast and announces two another brand new EPs to come on CD (still on digipack) through the Damaged Rock Shop. The first one will be unleashed this spring, the second one (the final EP on the series of 4) later this year."
7 Degrees Records news :
CLOUDRAT - Moksha LP
"CLOUD RATs Moksha is an absolutely insane, ripping piece of blastbeat driven grindcore, fueled by 90's screamo-violence, punk, various kinds of metal and all kinds of other noises. Lyrically, the songs shift between personal and sociopolitical topics (often painful and explicit dealing with issues of drugs, neglect, emotional/physical/sexual violence, abandonment, poverty, racism/sexism/homophobia, etc), usually delivered poetically rather than straightforward. A really intense and epic listening experience! comes with a silkscreened cover on thick black cardboard - black innersleeves and a nice lyricsheet. co.release with reactwithprotest records.us press by ifb records and halo of lies records."

Owl - 2012 - Owl LP
Great "how we used to call it" retro-hard rock with the spirit of 70's.
Recommended for a high flight or a long ride.
"Owl was originally hatched in 2007, when the youngest Baechle brother,
Axell, sprang from an egg (aged 13 years already and with a Gibson Les
Paul in his hands) and began to compose original songs in the style of
classic heavy metal ( BlackZeppelinBudgieLizzyMotorV enomRamones). The
middle brother Alex, disturbed from his book by the noise, soon
decided to join in, adding his Fender Stratocaster, supernatural
songwriting, composition and vocal skills to the mix. The Holy Trinity
finally came together at Christmas 2009, when oldest brother Clint was
summoned away from a three month tour with some other band. The trio
met at the Baechle family mountain aerie, high in the Sierra
Mountains, and the demo tape was recorded (Clint on drums). The demo
was circulated, with some critical acclaim, and much curiosity as to
the real age and relationship of the band members.
Unable to procure a fourth sibling to complete the lineup of the band,
the brothers adopted an African child named Melanie to be their bass
player and sister in March of 2011. The Stone Loner seven inch was
recorded soon after. The band picked up steam, playing gigs around
the Bay Area, and lumbering drunkenly up the West Coast for the first
time in August 2011.
The Stone Loner seven inch finally came out (as a split label release
with band’s own Magick Hermit Records, and Tombs In The Valley
productions from Newcastle, UK.) in February 2012. This was followed
by a second West Coast tour. The band continued to ravage the Bay
Area throughout the Spring and Summer of 2012, building a reputation
as a formidable live act. The first LP (a split label release with
Magick Hermit and Lummox records) was released in limited quantity in
November 2012, on the eve of the band’s first US tour, which carried
them to the East coast and back, through an onslaught of crazy gigs
(and crazy weather).
2013 looks to be an even busier year, with many more releases and tours planned."

CAVORTS - 2012 - TIMES TOLD EP
Do you remember the band from UK called GU Medicine ?
Now they call themselves Carvots.
Mixing metalcore vs. stoned riffs is quite good.
Check this energetic EP full of rawk'n'roll.
BUSO VON KOBRA
Riff-rock band from Budapest, Hungary
"Drop tuned guitars, melodic vocals, mid-tempo songs, straddle-legged epic rock poses, lot of beer and energy drink, and some spirit. In 2008 these things blended together in the Buso Von Kobra feeling. Since then we added visual effects, special montages from classic Z-category movies by Ed Wood (Bride Of The Monster and Plan9 From Outer Space) and from the cult sexploitation and zombie motion pictures. So BUSO VON KOBRA band makes audiovisual gigs that activates all of your senses. In January 2013 we released a 5 song EP that’s available We plan to release another 5 pieces EP later this year."
Lothorian - 2013 - Welldweller
Heavy downtuned Doom outta Belgium.
Electric Wizard comes to mind.
"Lothorian started out as a 3-piece band in Maaseik, Belgium by Jurgen Martens, Thomas Francot and Jeroen Op't Roodt.
The guys already played together in numerous bands but never found musical satisfaction in most of those lineups or genres.
Most important was throwing together both metal and hardcore backgrounds without following the standard vibe or rhytms of that mixture in modern underground music.
All three started jamming in Jurgen's basement exploring their boundaries, listening to Sabbath, Sleep and Electric Wizard vinyls and processing that whole with a bong on the side.
After a few months of getting a set together and playing a few shows, they recorded a 4-track DIY demo called "Shallow Ground" mostly to save up some cash and be able to record a full-legth album soon after that, and so they did.
In January 2011 the band enters the SafeHaven Recordings studio with Robin Carlo, a young and talented producer from their area who was totally stoked to record their first album.
In April 2011 the band invited Niels Castermans of Worms Feed to celebrate with them, which lead to a 3 hour jamming session and him playing along for a few shows.
Meanwhile they reached out a few labels to get the release going, and got acquainted with Acid Cosmonaut Records from Italy, who were very excited about a co-operation.
A few weeks later the release date for Welldweller was set.
Thomas Berger, who was doing vocal duties in Worms Feed years before and a good friend of the band, also wanted to do something different in genre, so he and Niels both decided to join Lothorian as steady members.
The addition of a second guitarist with a more hardcore/sludge influenced metal background and a singer with a throat of pure evil made mark of a new chapter, darkness.
Morke."
