Second update adds two amazing bands! Ladies and gentleman, I'm proud to announce that Bluesbreaker & BOMG will join our festival.
BLUESBREAKER (Ukraine, Kiev)
Hardcore/Blues/Bluescore - Black Sabbath meets Black Flag.
Band mixes the energy of hardcore with the sabbate-sque riffage, creating a perfect sonic potion to enjoy.
Stoned Jesus (Kiev, UA) Going from occult stoner/doom to psychedelic hard rock. After releasing few demos the band outshined with the fullength called "First Communion" on Solitude prod.
After listening to this trio you can honestly say - that's how the real stoner-rock should sound. Keep your ears open for sniff good dose of hellfire doom. Tombstones released their "Volume two" album like half a year ago:
"Volume II" is a 9-song-long manifestation of how heavy rock should sound like in 2010. The album is recorded live and analog, and will kick-start rock-hearts with a weakness for warm and tube-driven distortion. The sound of Tombstones is crushingly massive, suggestive and down-tuned, and has references to the best milestones of heavy-rock through time. The collaboration of Billy Anderson and Audun Strype from the prior album continues and they purify the sound Tombstones has developed as their trademark on "Volume II". Through riffs, sounds, lyrics and mood the fog comes oozing from the dark woods of Norway.
"Volume II" is recorded, produced and mixed by legendary Billy "Engine-Ear" Anderson, known for having produced several of the heaviest quality-rock albums through the last decades. Sleep, Melvins and Cathedral to mention a few. The album is mastered by Audun Strype, one of Norway's best and most recognized sound masters. Known for working with Motorpsycho, Årabrot and SUMA amongst others. One of Norway's heaviest bands, Tombstones, is 3 guys from the woods of eastern Norway, brought up on doomy and heavy groove-rock. The band has played together for over 6 years and has an extensive number of concerts behind them. They have shared stages with Nebula, SUMA, Witchcraft and many more.
Dark Sludge/hc/Doom with its own spirit. TFE members are currently playing in different bands, such as Haw, Stereochrist to name a few. Few days ago they were supporting mighty Eyehategod and Church of Misery. "we are different from the usual „confederate flag stoner" type of bands, and represent a much darker and more bitter direction, we can bring somethng new to the scene "
"The Budapest band Torn From Earth came into being around 2005/6 with Viktor Hatalyák (guitar), Éva Kóczi (guitar) and Balázs Szatmári (bass). Soon after, they were joined by Benedek Hámori (voice) and Tamás Zsákai (drums). In 2008 we released a self tiltled demo/Ep wich was mixed in Viktor's living room. This recieved pretty good rewievs in the more obscure part of the hungarian underground, with its sludgy sound and hardcore leanings. This was followed by gigs mainly in the capital, where we opened for such bands as Spiritus Mortis, Shrinebuilder, Men Eater, Hellshock or Sights & Sounds. In 2011 there were changes with the line up. Éva's place was taken by Attila Hargitai and on the drum front Tomi's place (due to Tomi being really busy) was taken by Gáspár Binder (Haw, Prosectura, Stereochrist, ex-Vostok Room), and the bass position is now in the hand of another old friend, Ödön Sultz (Harvester, ex–Vostok Room). With this new blood infusion came new power, the number of gigs increased, we will soon record our second material and are practicing ferociously."
Prepare yourself for the debut performance of these shamanic blues brothers. Get ready for some pleasent surprises on the merch and special show.
"Ethereal Riffian was formed in summer of 2010. After spending several years trying different musical styles, they found sonic vibrations which sounded close to their collective consciousness. Debut work of Ethereal Riffian - "Shaman's Visions" is the result of thier long search. Eclectic music forged by the band combines hypnotic grooves and heaviness of stoner/doom, shades of mind-bending psychedelia, blasts of ground-breaking rock & metal, and a mixture of experiments, which, at first sight, seem to be unmixable. Join them if you're ready for intermediation between two worlds."
Someone loves this experiment, someone not. 2 great songs from 3 last Boris's albums mixed in one video. Hope appears on "New Album" and also fom the jap-pop release "Attention Please" and the heavy part of Riot Sugar is borrowed from "Heavy Rocks pt.2"
Really wonderful beast with the nice cover. French quartet Denizen delivers heavy hardcore-stoned grooves on their debut album "Whispering Wild Stories". Start playin' the first song and you'll begin headbanging, showing goat sign with your fingers to the ceiling and doing a hardcore-mosh moves at the same time. Damn. That goes really, really great. By energy It reminds me early Clutch "Impetus" or "S/T" era. Big News No. III, heh? And the sound goes deep to mid 90's and compares to all great soned Man's Ruin bands (ATP,Aunt Worm, Tree, The Action Suits or even Fuckemos) Just the perfect mix of punk and rock that I havn't heard since the Cower "Land Before time". At the end of the Album you'll find catchy Cream cover on "Sunshine of your Love"/sounds killer.
Big stoned thanx to Collin for sending a CD. Support the band and buy CD's on Denizen's Bandcamp page http://jimbobisaac.wordpress.com/ (Great artist who made the cover for this album, you'll find some famous stuff there)
Here comes the most valuable event of this summer. Japanese Monoare gonna play in Lviv, UA. Don't miss this show ! Date: 17.06.2011 (Sunday) The place: Lviv, Opera House Doors Open : 19:30 Show Starts : 20:00 New Century Classics from Poland will support the show. AZH Agency is making this wonderful show That's how it sounds and looks like alive in NYC
My personal heavy recoomendation. French Sludge/Doom bastards from Oruga band became stronger and now sound more exclusive and original. Nice EP. I hope to hear more in the nearest future. Here you can find their first demo
Interesting stuff: Parts of the album were recorded in several different churches found in North Yorkshire, England. This has given the record a unique spiritual vibe. The cover - St. Ethelburga's Church - is one of those churches.
The album also includes unique sounds created by Throbbing Gristle's GRISTLEISM machine (TG are cited as a major influence).
Yes they're from Phoenix, Arizona. Yes, this is the same Toad that goes on the B side with Drone Throne LP. Nowadays they became less noisy, more metal oriented. Good try. but i will miss their early material - pure piece of dirt. Listen. Support. Eat the riffs!
TOAD is a 6 piece band from Phoenix, Arizona that has crafted a sound of their own that cannot easily be classified. The album I am sending you is entitled "Rotten Tide" and was tracked live to analog tape. For this album, TOAD teamed up with recording engineer/producer Bob Hoag (Hour of the Wolf, Recover, the Bled, Life in Pictures etc.). All vintage gear from the 60's and 70's was used to get a true rock sound. The serious snarl of the vocals are accompanied with horrifyingly distorted organ scattered throughout, which provides a new unique sound that TOAD has coined as their own. TOAD has played with well known national acts such as Coliseum, Deafheaven, the Funeral Pyre, Burning Love, Early Graves, Hour of the Wolf, Across Tundras, and Clinging to the Trees of a Forest Fire, to name a few.

Axe in your head, bullets in your chest, sword in your guts and heavy riffage in your ears. Horizon darkens and battlefield paints the sky in red. The army of Tank 86 has arrived. Finally the instrumental super-heavy act from Netherlands has released it's debut album called "Rise". They have released 2 EPs earlier, and I was really looking forward to their full-length album. And here it is - tearing my appartment's walls down.
Captain Obvious hints that CD's title means that you really have to rise! No really - look at the art cover. That face isn't satisfied, nor is it happy. Visual presentation together with the sound, which is tearing my speakers at the moment, gives me the impression, that times are dark, hope has faded away long ago, and the only thing left for us - is to take that old rusty axe (or shotgun, whatever excites you most), and start making good things happen. Well that's a way to go! Avoiding any musical comparison I should say that this CD sounds to me like a brutal, hopeless war. Some fight for freedom, some just fight because they have to, some fight for taste of blood in their mouths.
In a musical sense the music can be distantly compared to Кarma to Burn on steroids. Another closer comparison which comes to my mind is a sonic mixture of High On Fire's fury and Balero's instrumental rage. If they needed a vocalist - the only man who could fit in this instrumental outrage could be Matt Pike (imagine...that would be epic). But Tank86 isn't a band you can compare someone to. Their in-your-face/kick-your-ass riffs are mostly, mixed with some great harmonies, which tend to cross the line of an average song in terms of compositional approach & song-writing.
It's hard to pick and describe some exact track, because they sound all sound like one merciless battle-hymn. But I can tell you that you will hear progressive metal parts & groovy/stoner riffage (Apparat), berserkers rage (Gottes Krieger), and even a soundtrack to an axe (Axe)!
The only bad thing about the album is that it's so volumetric (tracks are really epic) that after four listens I can recollect only one riff (from the Apparat song). Well maybe it means that I have to make it to 20 listens and try it again!
Overall Tank86's first full-length "Rise" is huge. It's powerful. Reminds me of a titan wearing a "fuck you" t-shirt. A titan with a mini-gun and a rusty axe behind his back. You're either on his side, or...you'd better be on his side.
You can't get better description fore this that bandcamp says :
"Dwelling among the debris of the whore capital of Western Slovenia, Hellcrawler are a bunch of cynical wasteland denizens who found unsavory panacea in the symbiosis of punk violence, stoner rock atmosphere and heavy riffage. Their soundtrack to the demise of humankind is a motorized assault of old school death metal and d-beat which reflects their major source of inspiration, the decaying aesthetic of post apocalyptic and spaghetti western cinematography. Beginning in 2010, the outfit saw their first release, Wastelands, in 2011 on Hollow Earth Records. "
Woodrue - is fresh band from Finland. They're raw and dirty. that's all that you need to know. an maybe this: The Floronic Man (Jason Woodrue), also known as the Plant Master and Floro, is a fictional character in the DC Comicsuniverse. He was created as an enemy of the Atom; however his most famous appearance was in the Swamp Thing comic, particularly when it was written by Alan Moore.
Here's the new release from Stone Cold Boys - their creative approach to music-making won't leave you indifferent. These 6 tracks will surely put a smile on your face - enjoy!
